Raoul Andrews Sudre, after graduating from the Cornell Hotel Administration school in 1960, he worked for “General Foods” as Director of the “Duncan Hines Guides” inspection services. In 1961 he joined the staff of Cornell University. During his 15 years tenure there, he taught in four different departments: Hotel, business, Theatre Arts and Physical Education and Athletics. He founded “International Consultants” a hospitality industry consulting firm and was involved in all aspects of the industry from design to operations including staff training in all hotel divisions. Raoul began noticing the spa trend growing rapidly worldwide and thus created Aspen Spa Management Corporation, one of the first Spa Consulting companies. International Consultants is now doing business as “Aspen Resorts International” and caters to the coordination of resort developments with a strong ecological and sustainable approach.
As Raoul’s specialization is in the development of Resort hotels and all operations within, an alarming weakness in the spa industry has become more and more apparent: High demand for Spa expertise yet lack of sufficient technical, managerial and sales training. It soon became apparent that a specific training school for spa workers was needed. Therefore Raoul Andrews Sudre founded the International Hotel Spa Academy to meet the demand for quality trained spa personnel worldwide. |
